The Insignia Breast Screening PACS delivers a number of key benefits, including:

  1. Studies are stored securely for an indefinite period.
  2. There is no dependency on the Hospital PACS to store or distribute images to Reading Workstations.
  3. NBSS and Hospital RIS numbers are reconciled ensuring all images (Screening, Assessment or Symptomatic) are maintained in one patient record.
  4. Studies can be sent to the Hospital PACS with the numbering updated to Hospital Number to ensure compatibility.
  5. Relevant prior studies can be pulled from the Hospital PACS and updated with NHS number (obtained from RIS or Hospital Information System).
  6. Images are available at any reading workstation.
  7. The Breast Screening PACS will support both Screening and Non-Screening episodes and route the images accordingly.
  8. Modality Worklists will be provided for both Screening and Non-Screening clients and patients.
  9. The Reading Workstation is synchronised with NBSS to ensure clinical safety when reading digital studies. It is one of only a handful of workstations to have been formally ratified by Temenos the supplier of NBSS. Such ratification is a mandatory requirement in the NHS Supply-Chain Breast Screening Framework Contract.
  10. Full resilience is included with duplicated PACS servers and Archives to enable ongoing operations in the event of component failure.
  11. The architecture ensures that individual sites are able to continue to image clients even in the event of a network failure.
  12. The Insignia Remote Monitoring service provides a live update on the health of the system to the Insignia helpdesk. This enables Insignia to manage and resolve issues before they have an impact of the running service.
  13. Insignia is an approved supplier on the National Breast Screening PACS.
