The Insignia Breast Screening PACS delivers a number of key benefits, including:
- Studies are stored securely for an indefinite period.
- There is no dependency on the Hospital PACS to store or distribute images to Reading Workstations.
- NBSS and Hospital RIS numbers are reconciled ensuring all images (Screening, Assessment or Symptomatic) are maintained in one patient record.
- Studies can be sent to the Hospital PACS with the numbering updated to Hospital Number to ensure compatibility.
- Relevant prior studies can be pulled from the Hospital PACS and updated with NHS number (obtained from RIS or Hospital Information System).
- Images are available at any reading workstation.
- The Breast Screening PACS will support both Screening and Non-Screening episodes and route the images accordingly.
- Modality Worklists will be provided for both Screening and Non-Screening clients and patients.
- The Reading Workstation is synchronised with NBSS to ensure clinical safety when reading digital studies. It is one of only a handful of workstations to have been formally ratified by Temenos the supplier of NBSS. Such ratification is a mandatory requirement in the NHS Supply-Chain Breast Screening Framework Contract.
- Full resilience is included with duplicated PACS servers and Archives to enable ongoing operations in the event of component failure.
- The architecture ensures that individual sites are able to continue to image clients even in the event of a network failure.
- The Insignia Remote Monitoring service provides a live update on the health of the system to the Insignia helpdesk. This enables Insignia to manage and resolve issues before they have an impact of the running service.
- Insignia is an approved supplier on the National Breast Screening PACS.
